홍콩반점

간신히 앞뒤 끝을 맞춰 다시 한 주를 마감하였다.
회사일 우선의 일과에서 뒤로 밀린 개인적인 원고 마감 두 건이
금요일 늦은 오후 시간을 불튀게 하는 피날레를 장식하면서..

미즈엔의 <혼자만의 시간을 위한 여백>- 매주 한 편씩 사진과 글을 마련하는 일인데
드리밍 사진일기로 쌓여있는 글과 사진이 아니라면 애초에 불가능한 일이었을 것이다.
계절감 시의성 등을 일주일 단위로 고려하여 원고를 고르거나 새로 만드는 일은
만만한 일이 아니다. 컬럼을 시작하고 처음으로 편집장께서 전화를 하셔서
걱정스러운 목소리로, 원고가 아직... 하신다.
죄송해서 어쩌나요. 한시간 내루다가...전화를 끊고 불이 나게 원고를 올리고 나니
이번엔 메종 잡지의 강사라 기자의 전화다. 선생님, 원고가 아직...
에고. 죄송해라. 지금 정리 중인데요, 30분 내루다가...

메종의 요청은 가장 일반적인 중국집 '홍콩반점'의 간판을 리디자인하는 일이다.
몇몇 디자이너에게 의뢰하여 제안된 디자인들로 페이지를 꾸미는 기획인 것이다.
굼뜬 나의 포토샵 실력으로는 한정없이 시간이 걸릴 듯 하여 용석씨에게 부탁을 하였다.
금요일 퇴근 시간에 임박한 최고로 얄미운 부탁이었을 것이다. -_-;;;
어제 밤에 잠깐 방향을 생각하여 필요한 자료를 미리 준비해두었던 덕에
이렇게 저렇게 포토샵에서 마무리를 하는, '끝'이 보이는 일인 게 다행이었다.
금요일 저녁 7시 조금 못 미친 시각, 홍콩반점도, 한 주일도 모두 끝이 났다.
주문한 지 꽤 시간이 지나 몇차례 전화를 해도 '떠났는데요'라는 대답뿐
도착하지 않는 자장면처럼, 막 취소하려는 순간에 도착해버린 자장면처럼.

홍콩반점의 디자인 컨셉을 한 줄 써 달라기에 적어보았지만
식어 한 덩어리로 붙어버린 자장면처럼 느껴지지 않을까 조금 걱정이 된다.

성실한 국민 음식점 홍콩반점-
누구에게도 어디에서도 한 눈에 시선을 사로잡을 수 있는 빨강은
홍콩반점의 theme 칼라가 되어야 함이 당연하고
쓸데없이 건방스러운 타이포나 디자인은 국민의 원성을 사기 마련이니
원래 한던대로의 '촌스러움'을 최고의 미적가치로 승화시키는
그런 디자인이 가장 편하고 아름다운 디자인이 될 것이라 생각하였다...
